What to do with Dress....

We are going to be emigrating after Christmas and the great house clear-out has begun.
My wedding dress can't really come with us to sit in the wardrobe and I don't want to leave it in the attic. I've been to the local charity shop that sells wedding dresses and the dresses there look so unloved I wouldn't want to risk it gathering dust in some corner....
So what do I do?
I'd really like to give it to someone in the South Manchester area who would struggle otherwise to afford a beautiful dress.
I know that there is a wedding organiser who works with brides to help give them a really beautiful but inexpensive wedding, but I can't find their details anywhere.
It's a Maggie Sottero Charlene, I think they call it diamond white. I was a 6ft bride so the very few marks that are on the hem will soon disappear when it gets adjusted. I'm size 16-18 with big boobs. The dress has a stunning corset back so is very flexible over sizing. It's a very comfortable dress with a bit of sparkle, but not too much. It also has a short train which hooks up.
Any ideas where I could take it to be loved?

PM me if it might suit you, please only genuine brides.

What a lovely kind person you are. Perhaps you could get in touch with your local paper and see if they can do an article and a follow up article?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Thanks Scotsbride,
the nearest one to me felt a bit jumble-sale, I went there to look for a dress but people were not treating the dresses well and it was more like the Next sale than a bridal boutique!
I guess I'd rather give it free to someone who would appreciate it than risk it getting damaged or spending days in a pile on the floor.
I did buy it from the Barnados shop in Telford - they were fantastic - I can heartily recommend them, but they don't sell second-hand, just end of line/ display dresses.0 -
Found a company here in Manchester specialising in debt free weddings. I'm looking into it, but I understand that they will use donated dresses to help brides get the day they dream of. May be of interest to other MSErs...

I read about this organisation on another Wedding forum
www.weddingwishingwell.org.ukThere are many men and women in the UK living with life limiting conditions or terminal illnesses who long to marry their special partner in life.
We, at The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation believe that few things in life can be more important or rewarding, than giving such a person a chance to have their dream wedding day, with all the excitement, love and happiness that brings.
As we are fully aware that time can be precious, we are able to organise the arrangements against the clock where required. If you have an unwanted wedding dress or anything else associated that you no longer need then please contact us.
We recycle these items either by keeping them and offering them to brides who cant find a dress or by selling them on and the money going back into the foundation to help somebodies wedding dream come true.0 -
