    More tales from the skip.

Daughter went to collect her table and chairs this morning, she said they were bringing in loads of "new" stuff she had to fight her way thruough the dealers.

Managed to bag herself a lovely toy box and a fancy pine shelving wall unit,
    £7.00 for the two.

Now whether they have new stuff everyday or just Tuesdays I dont know
but for those of you who were interested I would say it pays to go early.

We have a local shop called CRAFT which sells furniture, electircs and various stuff that people would otherwise send to the tip. We hafd a lovely bureau for just £15 that is lovely dark solid wood and looks antique and expensive :rotfl: We also had a new posh computer chair for £10 and is is sooo comfy, encourages me to spend more time online instead of doing something contructive!

i iwsh we had something like this on the isle of wight.

we do have a local tip, but anything worth saving usually goes to the tip workers.

if we did have a shop like this tho. i'd certainly buy from.
  • my daughter moved into a new home and took some rubbish to the skip and found a super pine tv unit - would you believe it the pattern and grooving on the unit matched her pine fire surround exactly!

We're always finding stuff in skips. My dad got most of the wood for my brothers bedroom from stuff people had chucked away :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
I am very envious as both my ds and dd are collecting furniture for their homes. Nearest we have here is a house clearance company that also sells on ebay but the warehouse is quite near to me.
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

  • My best skip story was FIL found a set of Terry Pratchett audio books in a skip outside a house he was working in. Put them on Ebay and made £72!!

People from our local tip take what is brought in that can be sold to car boot sales. Have spotted the van there several times.

Our guys used to do that, but they are not allowed to no more. Im sure they still get away with a few things though!
