Wish i'd seen this thread before I made my pitta breads. Tried the recipe from the Panny recipe book using wholemeal bread flour and they've come out looking ok, but each one weighs the same as a housebrick!!!0

Hi all
I've looked through the indexed collecion and done a search but cant find any info.
Has anyone made pitta breads from scratch? I want to use my breadmachine for the dough and then just bake them in the oven.
I've had a look about for some recipes but they seem to vary quite a lot and wondered if anyone had a tried and tested recipe that works well. Preferably wholemeal as i have loads of it. i have white and brown aswell though if thats better...
Many thanksWhat matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

I just had a look through my breadmaker manual and there isnt a recipe for pitta bread, only naan bread. Let us know how it goes though because I would like to do this too, only got my BM this week though.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Hi picklepick,
There's an earlier thread with recipes for pitta bread including one that can be started in the bread maker that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.

I've found this recipe for Pita (hopefully the fluffy soft round greek type). Could anyone tell me how I could adapt it for making in the bread maker (dough only obviously):

I'll be using a Panasonic SD253 machine if thats important:
