Shiny coins Psychosis Neurosis savers thread

I chose the cool icon, because i decided it's "cool" to admit to saving your shiny new coins, but then, it could also be a  or an :o

Yup. It's been a problem for me for many years, and the fact i can't spend my shiny new coins has dug me out of various holes, ( in which case, i've had to spend them, obviously.) :rotfl:But it's only when i absolutely have to spend them, i spend them.

After extricating all my shiny new coins from my proverbial pocket, this morning, i have decided to officially save them in my campervan savings box, from hence forward.

Today, two shiny £1 coins, one shiny 50p and one shiny 20p, making a start of £2.70. I've no particular goal, as yet, just save until the box is full, but there's no guarantee i'll ever bring myself to spend them...........:rotfl::rotfl:

There's no hope for me? Anyone care to join me / suffer from the same affliction? or am i the only nutter? :D

  • The 2 £1 I put in my saving tin today were put in because they were brand new shiny 2012 ones and I want to keep hold of them! I don't have enough money normally to save all the shiny ones :(

    Welcome, kiss me now.

I think that's a plus side to saving shiny coins, if you don't have much money to save?

If you can't afford to be too serious about saving, you can always dip in, as and when?

I haven't had any shiny coins this week, so none saved.

On the other hand, i haven't spent much money. :rotfl:

Nothing to add to the pot, this week.

    Still £2.70

I forgot about crisp new notes. You have a psychosis then? Who doesn't? :rotfl:

I was searching for something yesterday and came across a secret stash of 5 shiny £1 coins. Now safely deposited in campervan.

    Total - £7.70

    I'm rich :D

I love shiny new coins too. I always put a shiny new coin in the kids stockings, despite the fact the eldest is hitting 30 now. :rotfl:

I've tried the 'save your 20ps' / 'save your 50p's' / etc etc versions but I much prefer the 'save your shiny coins' version.

    I'm in. :D

  • Hi aliasojo :hello:

I suspect there are lots of folk who give or receive shiny coins and new notes for presents, or keep a shiny coin for luck? :rotfl:

It's always been the case, in my family.

Is it something we were taught? :D

I've already been saving my £2 coins, and i'm saving those for a purpose, although i don't have a target.

I'll stick to £2 coins and shiny coins.

    Shiny coins covers all. :)

There were three very shiny silver coins in my change jar. About the size of a 5p, they're actually Chinese (I think).

No idea who ripped me off for 15p, but to that nameless person; a sincere thanks (the coins are perfect for throwing the i ching)! :D

F&W, do you work for HMRC?
