Present for 19 month old little boy

I really need some help to get my last Christmas present :j

It is for a close friends little boy. I was thinking clothes but he has so many, I have no children so have no idea what toys would be best. I am looking to spend about £20

So, what toys seem to be a hit with little boys?
Toys R Us has free delivery so anything from there would be great

Help so I can be finished all my shopping :)

  • Clothes are fine! Buy them in the next size up - or even 2 sizes up. Everyone buys clothes for your baby/toddler that are the exact age/size but nothing for when they are older. Only one person has ever done that for me (buy clothes for when my baby was older) and it was very thoughtful and appreciated.

Alternatively, buy a toy car - any toy car. Always a guaranteed "hit" with little boys. :) They can never have enough... house is full of them, after 3 years and counting.

I got my DS a set of stacking cups for his first Christmas (among other things!) was about £3 he still loves them now and he's nearly 4 his little sis loves them too. We stack, pour, measure, count, do colours and they even have shapes on the bottom for stamping play dough.

  • Duplo? In my world you can never have too much Lego! :)

this is a nice set http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-DUPLO-5497-Play-Numbers/dp/B002KCNUU8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355571128&sr=8-1
  • If you buy clothes in the next size up make sure they are appropriate for the season they'll be worn. No point in buying a beautiful snowsuit if it will be August before it fits him (well...).

Other than that I'd go with Duplo too. Always goes down well.
  • You could buy books that they can enjoy together or as he gets a bit older as he will most likely get more toys than they can deal with.
2014 20p savers club #2 I've given up trying to keep track of how much that pig eats!
2014 £2 savers club #3 - I've no idea, but the pig is beginning to get mighty heavy

That is a great "car"! We have it too - still loved after a couple of years. :) By older child (girl) too. ;)

    1. I’ve seen parents who would prefer closes and those who would prefer gift certificates, or even pampers . Any chance to ask your friends? As for myself – i’m into toys. But sometimes there is a big toys which are too expensive to buy for 1 person, then – certificates.
    2. Cars – yes. It should be unbreakable. From my experience – the cheaper got better “unbreakability”. The best we’ve got were from boots- bizarre primary colours which babies love, not much details, but wheels and moving parts on solid plastic or metal, no mechanics so could be played indoors, outdoors and easy to wash (they don’t have it at the moment) – each for £1.5. For such a price I’ve got all 3 – digger, cement mixer and lorry.
    3. Some children like to play in the bath. Watermills are really good thing. Sometimes they sell it in a set with ships or cars. We still keep ours – my younger still plays with it and she’s 6.
    4. Riders. A lot of variations – indoors, outdoors. Again – the more solid – the better. One mine still use – is a kind of bus with letters to learn (with sound), but it’s big enough to ride. My 6y old still use it in her plays to ride on, on the other hand when she in the mood she still press numbers or letters (it’s like a game there is a Q what is the first letter for a word and you should press). Check Early Learning, they have free delivery for next 3 days - elc.co.uk
    5. Thomas “Take Alone” series, they rename it now (trains by itself, are not compatible with wooden tracks, but kids love them)
    6. Wooden railroad. We got no brand, so it was cheap (sometimes they sell no brand in Tesco or other big supermarkets). The good thing is – most of them are compatible, so next time you could buy something like funky bridge or garage and it will fit. Oh!, they’ve got now beginners set on sale at Early Learning, right in your price range.

Yup. Just check it says "Brio compatible". Most do but occasionally a few don't. Fab stuff - we have quite a lot of it. It's fairly durable too, a bit like lego, because you can bash it about and wash it and it still looks okay.
