If you don't want to handle phone calls don't! Have caller displayer put on your phone or even better change your number and only let work and family know. I do all my dealings by letters, and companies have made so many mistakes that when I have it in writing I have been able to hold it against them and sort of make them accept payments.
You have not been dumb, its all so easy and I guess we all fall into it at some time. But we are learning our lessons and dealing with it and we have so much of our life ahead of us where we can live debt free and save!0 -
I have sent each of my creditors a letter which the cccs advised me to photocopy and post to each one but I am panicing as my wages are being paid into my normal bank account on Wednesday as my new account hasn't been opened yet (been waiting since 12th April) and I owe this bank quite a bit of money (15k to be exact). I'm totally freaking out in case they freeze and account and won't let me access my funds. Thanks for your support - until tonight I felt really alone - I'm looking forward to getting this all sorted.0

If you have a parent / brother / someone you trust, ask if you can pay into their account for a month, and inform your employer that you want money paid into that account.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I take it you have already posted these letters, but if you have try not to worry but cancel all your direct debits if you haven't already and try to draw out as much of the funds as you can.
I know it sounds a bit sort of wrong, but you need that money to live on for this month as obviously credit cards etc are out the question now. So the day your wages go in, make them come out!
And fingers crossed you catch as much money as you can.0 -

When I worked in payroll you set the bank roll going at least 3 working days before so chances are work will not be able to do anything. Which is a bit of a downer.0 -
I contacted my pay section today and they advised me that because it was so late in the month there was noting they could do and the wages would go into my normal account. Just hope I am able to get access to my wages - as yet I haven't fell behind in my payments so hopefully the bank will allow me to access my money. Cant believe the support and advise I have got tonight - only told my oh my situation last Tuesday night. He thought my unusual/strange behaviour was because I was having an affair but it was really all the stress and pressure I have been dealing with due to keeping such a large debt secret. Thanks again hopefully when I come through this I can offer some advise to others.0

I think just the fact you have posted your problem will be helping other people, it will strike a chord with someone and boost them!
Just remember pay day raid your account and cancel direct debits they all need to be set up again at your new account anyway. Be careful with people like sky or internet connections though make sure you set one up pretty quick for them they tend not to wait much!0 -

You're welcome. We've all got debt problems of one size or another... so we've all been there and done that:)
Right... it seems like we've dealt with the most urgent problems, so now for the standard advice. Your should read this thread >>> http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=107280 and post a SOA in a new thread under the title "tightass SOA". This will get all the experts looking at where you can save money, and helping you to pay off your debts sooner.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
