It really depends on your budget, I've had a siemens porche kettle which was excellent and was still going strong 7 years after purchase, however it was prone to dribbling from the spout which is what made me replace it. I now have the Bosch Solitaire kettle which is very nice indeed. The big catch here is that both these kettle retail for around £80 - £100 but you may find a deal somewhere, I found the matching Bosch solitaire toaster at Tescos for 1/2 price !0 -
Thanks, I was looking at the morphy richards manhattan kettle at around £70 or the matching dualit kettle to go with my stainless steel 4 slotter. There is a nice Bosch one knocking around too so may look at that.Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

Hi Bob, don't know if any of these come in stainless steel though.
Kettles January 2006
Kenwood JK770Price: £20 Score: 83 %
This Best Buy from Kenwood is a great kettle – a classic jug that does its job well. It's part of a matching set and has a 1.5-litre capacity, which is quite small if you're making a lot of cups of tea.
It's energy efficient and quick to boil (taking 2 minutes 27 seconds to boil one litre). Noise levels are reasonable.
Home-tek Aqua Sensor HT355Price: £35 Score: 74 %
As well as being a great all-rounder, this Best Buy kettle from Home-tek has a 'keep warm' function and a reduced temperature option. The latter allows you to heat your water to any temperature between 50 and 100ºC. This is useful if you like green tea, which is best made with water at less than boiling point. It has a large capacity (two litres) – handy if you're a large family of enthusiastic tea drinkers.
It's energy efficient and quick to boil (taking 2 minutes 27 seconds to boil one litre). Noise levels are reasonable.
Morphy Richards OperaPrice: £25 Score: 73 %
The Morphy Richards Opera kettle is a Best Buy. It incorporates an indicator light on the inside, so the water glows orange when it's switched on, and it whistles when the water boils. It's part of a matching set and has a 1.5-litre capacity, which is quite small if you're making a lot of cups of tea.
It's energy efficient and quick to boil (taking 2 minutes 26 seconds to boil one litre) but is rather noisy.
Kenwood SK630Price: £20 Score: 73 %
The Kenwood SK630 is a Best Buy. It's one to consider if you prefer an old-fashioned dome kettle. It has a 1.7-litre capacity and is part of a matching set.
It's energy efficient and quick to boil (taking 2 minutes 30 seconds to boil one litre) but is rather noisy.
Russell Hobbs Classic Satin MontanaPrice: £25 Score: 71 %
This Russell Hobbs jug kettle is a Best Buy. It has a 1.7-litre capacity and is part of a matching set.
It's energy efficient and quick to boil (taking 2 minutes 26 seconds to boil one litre) but is very noisy.
Tefal DelfinaPrice: £20 Score: 71 %
This Tefal black jug kettle is a Best Buy. It's part of a matching set and has a 1.5-litre capacity, which is quite small if you're making a lot of cups of tea.
It's energy efficient and blissfully quiet, but rather slow to boil (taking 3 minutes 15 seconds to boil one litre). It's the only kettle without a concealed element, but despite this it wasn't noticeably worse for limescale build-up.

Thanks Scotti I will check out the home-tek stainless steel too. How did the dualit kettles fare in this test Scotti?Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.
