You may be in luck. From the EastCoast website:On Friday 21 December, the normal restrictions on the use of Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak tickets on northbound services leaving London King’s Cross will be lifted.
Price of a Super Off-Peak is coming up at £58.10 on the same site.Can I help?0 -
I have never noticed that before. I travelled from London Kings X to Peterborough last week and bought my ticket online/collected it from the machine. I have just had a look at the used ticket and it does have X against the price. However I have never been asked to show the credit card in the train or seen anyone else asked to do so.
Has anyone ever been fined for having the ticket, seat reservation and sales voucher from the machine but not the actual debit/credit card? I always collect my ticket from the machine in advance of the day of travel so could possibly leave the card at home by accident on the day.
I have seen passengers who had tickets printed at home asked to show either the card used to make the purchase or some other form of ID. This was on a XC train and I presume it is stop people printing off two copies of the ticket and passing it off as two purchased tickets.0 -
I've used Southern's Downlander ticket, which print at home only, and for that the conditions say you're supposed to have some Id. Have never been asked though. I've assumed it is to limit people wanting to print multiple copies.
Have never been asked for id when travelling a normal train ticket.0 -

I hope not as well, contrary to popular belief it's a railway and not a fascist police state.
One has never had to produce ID, then only thing that has to be given is a valid name and address and that's only if suspected of breaking a byelaw or traveling fraudulently.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

hello, that's rather good. This doesn't need railcards or anything right? Lots of mention of such things in the information on the site.
And its open for getting any train?
edit- ah balls, can't do it without my card0 -

Super Off Peak can be bought at the station on the day of travel at the same price (ignoring any 10% East Coast online discount).
Or you can buy it from any station before the day of travel if you want. Just make sure the clerk forward-dates it for the required day.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Ah, great, that's awesome then, will remember the name. Cheers.
I note the off-peak name- when is this peak that it can't be used? 6 o'clockish I suppose but don't know when till.0 -

Asking to see ID is not the difference between a democracy and a fascist police state... There are many scenarios where you DO have to show ID - when you use season tickets for example (not that I was ever actually requested to show it). And having to show ID with certain forms of payment is hardly unreasonable. Anyone but the most ludicrous conspiracy theorist would know it's a quick check to make sure you are using the ticket legitimately - they aren't secretly recording your details in a database tracking where you are...0 -

Unfortunately not, this price is only available if booked by 23.59 the day before travel on eastcoast.co.uk - (Super) Off Peak Singles are half the price of the Returns when bought through them, rather than being the same price as the returns if bought elsewhere.
Is the e-voucher method not a goer?
Regarding ID - the chosen form of ID - usually the card used - must be shown to validate print@home tickets. For ordinary tickets, once collected there is no need to carry the card (you can buy tickets for someone else of course).0 -
It only gives a postal or a station collection with your card option. Don't know anyone who'll be in London then I think. Back to lame again0
