On-topic: What happens if the speed limit is reduced to some ridiculous level?
Case in point, the M60 near Stockport; stupid 50mph limit extended for a couple of miles, achieves nothing but revenue for the council.
Another case in point, the A515 from Buxton to Ashbourne, on which the council is considering a 50 limit. Straight road, no houses for 20 miles in any direction, but 50mph. It'll be dangerous.

Erm, actually it's 40 mph if you're talking about the M60 roadworks near Stockport.
