Previous Addresses...credit report/mortgage HELP!

Hi,
Well i got my credit report this morning. Everything looks fine credit wise, all up to date etc..
Last year we applied for a mortgage with Northern Rock but got refused even after we has a AIP, because they said we had too many addresses. This seemed really weird to us as we hadn't had that many at all !
So now looking on my credit report, this is what has happened. About 3-4 years ago my partner and i went to get some new mobile phones with Orange. He forgot his proof of address and instead of going all the way back home, we put them both in my name with his name on the second one. Noe 6 months after we got them, unforseen circumstances meant we had to live apart for 2.5 years, only seeing each other every few weeks. During this time Orange completely messed up our phone bills, i would get his bills, he would get mine etc..after calling them repeatedly to get this sorted out they kept saying ti had been but it was carrying on for ages. Eventually we got it sorted and everything seemed fine.
So now i see on my credit report it had linked all of our addresses together when we lived apart. He lived in Bristol and then London where he had 2 addresses whilst i lived in Lincoln in the north at University ,but i have all of his addresses on MY credit report even though i have never lived there!
I am really really worrying about this now, is there anything i can do? Will this drastically effect our chances of getting a good mortgage?
The mortgage broker has suggested the best deal for us is a 2 year fixed rate with Nationwide, does anyone know if they will even look at this now?
Im soooooo worried, please help!

That seems to explain what happened with Northern Rock so obviously that was not your brokers error as you implied after all.
Trying using a lender who would only look at say two years address. History. You will find intelligent finance do that.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Hi Mortgage Mamma,
Thanks for your reply. I will do as you suggest, and speak to our mortgage advisor about lenders who only do two years history. Im not sure this will solve it completely as we lived at some of those addresses in the last two years. Is there any way to get them unlinked from each other?
I dont think i tried to blame our previous broker, the whole situation was very frustrating and hard to understand. There was no way on earth I'd have imagined they had me down as living at two places i have never lived at!
Thankyou for the help x0
