Ok, guys, if your DH was overseas and told you he'd been in to a Yankee outlet shop there!! (he doesn't get what all the fuss is about and normally steers me past Yankee shops!) :j - 1)what sort of price would you think is worth him buying when I haven't sniffed, so to speak and 2) any suggestions on names of fragrances that I can suggest to him as good ones.! Tricky I know!
I currently have (and love) the following - Beachwood. Mandarin Cranberry. Midnight Jasmine.
I don't want anything too sickly sweet and as we don't have a shop selling Yankee for miles around, it's unlikely I will get to sniff before he pops back to the shop for me on his way home:j I think he will be at the shop on Monday so I haven't much time. Please help!Living the dream, one moment at a time. It's not always easy but there are sparkles of joy around every corner.:j

I am taking it that overseas is America?
A lovely USA fragrance is Stars and Stripes.
There are also a few more USA ones, all with flags on the label but can not remember the names.0 -
Sorry, can't help with fragrances as I'm a vanilla and spice girl, BUT Facebook have groups for Yankee fans and they are very knowledgeable so they would be able to suggest fragrances you might like OR even better, tell him what you like and get him to ask in the shop - they were brilliant at suggesting ones I'd like.
If it's the outlets (approx $11 large jar) then if you didn't like it, you'd have no problem getting your money back (and more!!!!) selling it on ebay.0 -

I do try and stock up when we are away and have found that the outlets over in the us have previous season smellies in a similar way that outlet shopping tends to be older stock here...Its a bit pot luck what they will have in so if he's not really confident in yankee candles its probably not worth giving him a list of particular flavours....
In terms of price they can work out about 1/4 of what you would typically pay here...probably at the moment they have lots of halloween type fragrances maybe a few christmas new stock at reduced but not heavily discounted and some others which is where the bargains are to be had...if you pick out of season types they are the most reduced in price
last time we went I came back with mostlt citrus type ones melon, peach, tulip and summer fresh or something similar...the sizes of the candles vary too,so maybe you should just ask him to get a mixture of things up to a certain value and that way it will give you lots of opportunity to test from wax tartlets right up to the biggest jar you dare!
Have a look on the us website
http://www.yankeecandle.com/ particularly at the reduced sections, that might give you an idea of the types of flavours that may be in the outlet malls ....and a rough indication of price although sometimes an extra discount is given across outlet stores above those quoted on the websitefrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
Thanks so much for your responses everyone. I will suggest the Stars and Stripes, have a look on fb and also on the Yankee site, then give him a bit of a steer. I will suggest the 'ask the shop assistant' if the conversation later goes well, but that might be pushing my luck!

I usually go for the fruity ones, as generally not too sweet black cherry and apple macintosh are nice.Just because your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ! :rotfl:0 -

Picked up a what I consider a "steal" yesterday at Clintons, I picked up two of the Peppermint Swirls gift sets at £9.99 each and then they were buy one get one half price so I expected to be charged £14.98 however when I was at the till because I was a member of their loyalty scheme if I brought a date book for 75p to take my bill to above £15 I could get £5 off. This meant that the gift sets were less than £5 each and they're a medium jar.:T :j :T0

there's 3 for 2 on large jars at Yankee Scotland and free postage over £25. Had a couple of orders from them already and really excellent service and very fast delivery.
