Hi
With one letter to each creditors after my discharge in September, I spoke with Noddle yesterday who informed me that the last of my 2 defaults have now been marked as settled. So I got on the phone with Vanquis who were very helpful and told me after going through the application that I had been accepted and that when I receive the terms & conditions by post, Once I have them signed and sent back I should receive a call from them to check some details and then I should be issued with my card.
My question is.....
Is this normal procedures when applying over the phone? The reason I did so was due to the ''Computer says No'' element.
Many Thanks
JCG

Cheers Tigerfeet

I'm a bit dubious as I've never had a credit card before.

Don't be, they did it with me and just about everyone else here with one I should think.
If this is your first card and you are just using it to build your credit rating then I would suggest that all you do is take one item that you are going to use it for ie: your petrol for the month. When you get paid put your petrol budget to one side and when the bill comes in pay it straight away. Or groceries is another one, put your grocery budget to one side etc. etc.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Thanks TF

That is my exact intentions. I need to build up a good credit history, myself & my partner will now try to save £500 a month towards a deposit for a mortgage in 2-3 yrs times.
Thank you for your helpful replies and a very happy Xmas to you

Just wanted to say good luck with things! It's always uplifting to see posts from people over the other side and out of BR making a start at things again - and yeah, I was with vanquis a while back. As has been said, just make sure you pay off the full balance each time you get a bill and you'll be fine.
So yes, I would love to still be dropping by here in a few years and hearing you secured a home or something
so stick at it.
Thanks again, ad.0 -

Hi
This is the normal procedure.
Post bankrupty I had a card with them. As soon as I received card I used it to purchase petrol/food for a couple of items. I then froze it (literally) as I put it in a tin can filled with water and put it in the freezer. 6 months later i defrosted it and then used it for one purchase of fuel and then froze it again. I had a letter from Vanquis saying they had increased my credit limit. I only have it to rebuild my credit rating and plan to use it again in 6 months time for another single purchase.
All the best

That has to be one of the craziest ways of using a credit card, but if that's what works for you then happy days!
Happy New Year
