New Job and Moving House

I'm about to change jobs and although in the short term I can live with the 100 mile round trip commute ultimately we are going to move closer.

My wife's keen to move ASAP and she's nagging me to put our house on the market within a month of me starting my new job, I'd like to take things a bit slower as the job comes with a 13 week probation period.

Would we have a problem applying for a new mortgage while still in my probationary period?

It's wise of you to take the 13 weeks probationery period into consideration and you should explain this carefully to your wife.

As you may not be offered a full time position or you may even hate the job and decide to move again, you should ask her to "chill."

Having said that, most mortgage lenders will consider you after the 13 weeks, so there should not be a problem getting a mortgage.

Do you have a mortgage at the moment?

    Is there a redemption penalty?

Is it portable? (i.e. can you take it with you to your new property)

Thanks for the quick reply JoeK

Yes we have a mortgage at the minute with Abbey, my tie in ends on the 16th September, the plan is to go with a new lender as I'm sure we'll get a better deal.
