Halal meat-why so cheap?

It doesn't seem fair to me, that the Soil Association (and I'm a member) sets standards which make meat and poultry unacceptable to Muslim and Jewish people especially as there are studies out there which show that a knife can cause less pain than a bolt.
There is another organic halal producer Abraham Natural Produce which is certified to Soil Association standards but the owner is a licensed slaughterer and does the halal slaughtering himself. www.organic-halal-meat.com
I presume that the non-halal stuff is certified and the halal stuff isn't certified just reared yo the same standard (maybe even separately) and that could be the case with Willowbrook Farm too because as mulronie points out the only difference between halal and non-halal (haraam) is the slaughtering.
There certainly is a demand from both Muslim and Jewish people for better quality halal and kosher meat and poultry from the number of posts I've seen on forums via Google.
At the moment the only organic kosher chicken and turkey supplier I can find is www.biblicalfoods.co.uk and it seems they do their own slaughtering too.0 -

I missed that page thanks. Based on the chicken stunning I saw, there certainly are signs of life after stunning in some birds but I have no idea about cattle etc.0

Imagine on another planet the animals rearing and killing the humans for food and other products just because they don't understand what we say and think we are beneath them and to be used as they see fit for our meat and skin and hair.
When I look at meat I think of a human body part.
I'm hypocritical because I do eat meat in small quantities but it increasingly is turning my stomach.0 -
I go to a Halal butchers on the other side of town by my grandad's rather than buy meat from the supermarkets. One half of my family is Muslim and the other half is Catholic. In my 'Catholic' family, all meat is bought from the butchers/supermarket and it is what I was mostly brought up on. My 'Muslim' family always buys their meat from the local Halal butchers.
When I was about 17ish and moved out, my aunt asked me if I wanted some meat from the butchers. I said yes, went with her and got HUGE chicken breasts, chicken mince and 'normal' mince. Me and my boyfriend could both taste the difference in the meats compared to the supermarket bought meats. Halal chicken tastes a lot fresher, cleaner and tastier and it's all because there's no blood in it. I much prefer Halal meat to 'normal' meat and I don't think I'd personally buy meat from a traditional supermarket/butchers unless I really had to.0 -
Was searching for organic food news and found this.

I'm wondering whether a Middle Eastern certification scheme could be accepted in UK for halal0
