Fleur de Sel?

I am making salted caramel and the recipe calls for this. It's VERY expensive. Does anyone know if I can use ordinary sea salt, and if not where I can get this cheapest? TIA.

It's expensive cos it's hand-harvested stuff, you could use something like Halen Mon https://www.halenmon.com (I got mine from Approved Food) or La Baleine - the crystal sea salt stuff, basically.0

You can substitute a flaky sea salt, like Maldon - basically, you want delicate flaky salt crystals for salted caramel. Don't use fine table salt or rock salt - you should be able to crumble the salt between your finger tips. I can find Maldon Salt for under £2 for 250g in Sainsburys, so not super-cheap, but less expensive than fleur de sel!2015 comp wins - £370.25

Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
Fantastic, thank you both!
Found Maldon here, delivered for £2.09I shall use this instead.
