There was some news on Friday..late friday, which in turn led to us going back on Saturday and leaving a deposit :D

We have now had to bring our day forward to the 26th April but we have a nicer venue from it! We are yet to receive the cheque from the other venue though!

Haha, no Splat wont be but what an idea!! lol Not sure whats going to happen with Splat that day and night... I think we are going to have to find a cattery, so I can be assured she is ok and looked after from the day before the wedding until the day after! I couldn't possibly leave her at home on her own all that time and anyone I could trust will be with us celebrating so looks like the only option is a cattery! :(

I'm soooo glad you've got something sorted!! :D Hopefully you'll get your cheque from the other venue soon.

Re. Splat, could somebody possibly stay at your house on the night of the wedding? I don't know how far it is from your venue so don't know if it's feasible, but you could offer it as free digs for one of your guests? That's what we did - OH got ready at our house so was there on the morning of the wedding, then a friend stayed overnight and we came back the next afternoon :)

If not, how about a local petsitter to come in a couple of times? If you're going on honeymoon straight away then the cattery may be a better option, but for the sake of 36hrs or so it seems a lot of stress for our next Olympic diving hopeful...

First...Take a deep breath and calm yourself!

Something very similar to this happened to my husband and I six months before our wedding!

At short notice you are likely to get a good deal on a venue that may previoulsy have been out of your budget. So make a list of all venues near by (regardsless of budget) and give each one a ring to find if they have your date available. If they do ask how much they will charge and if you can get a late notice discount.

Once armed with the above info go back to your orginal venue and say they only venue in the area that is available at such short notice is ****** and the price difference is £***** we expect the difference to be paid in compensation, plus your deposit & stationary fees. if they dont comply threaten them with small claims court and going to the local press.

Above all stay calm, you will get something sorted! We ended up getting a fab deal on the venue we orginally wanted but thought we couldnt afford.

    Good Luck x

    I agree with this wholeheartedly.

They shouldn't have booked if they couldn't supply.

  • The cheque arrived yesterday and went into the bank today so now just waiting for it to clear....it better not bounce!!

I've emailed the people we got our original invites from to explain the situation and ask for another quote and how fast they can get them out to us. I've obviously explained we wont need more envelopes so will see what they come back with!

OH will be at home on the morning and the ceremony isn't until 3pm about half an hour away from home. He has to be there at 2.30. I don't think I want to leave her from then until the next day though, all that time on her own! She is on her own when we are at work but not for that length of time and to be honest with the venue being where it is I doubt anyone would be coming back towards our place.

Hmmm how about a neighbour popping in for an hour or so?

She'll be fine though if you do leave her, I promise! She'll just sleep!! xx

Yeah, I'm sure she'll be fine - if you're worried maybe try leaving her for a longer stretch between now & the wedding to see how she copes? We usually leave extra food (though I think that gets wolfed down almost immediately!!) and an extra litter tray x

  • Thanks again for your replies!

I have just had a reply from the people doing our invites(again) They have now been re-ordered, aswell as a few other bits and pieces which had the wrong date on.

Because we have had to change the date it seems its a bit of a problem for a few people... :( Obviously not their fault though....

Our best man lives in Belgium. He can't get over until the afternoon before the wedding  He and OH are meant to be at the suit shop on the Tuesday which now wont be possible! So we have to just hope that Best man's suit still fits!! He also will have to leave again on the Saturday so we wont be able to see him for long at all!

Then I spoke to my friend who lives up in Bradford who had offered to do my hair and nails as a gift! She can't get much time off in April. She says she can come down on the Thursday also...but she will have to leave a little while into our evening reception to get back to Bradford and to work on the Saturday morning! So again only a flying visit! She was going to come down for the week before to practice on my hair and decide what style I would be having on the day, this now can't happen!

Why does everything seem so against our wedding :(
