Ok and this is straight up, I personally did it twice and it worked.

PTI (Premier Travel Inn) 'Guarantee a good nights sleep' and if you don't get it, you can claim your money back. No quibble.

    It's called invoking.

All you do in the morning, or at the end of your stay (although obviously you can't stay 5 nights and then complain, if it was that bad, you'd have complained the first night and left surely..so short stay is best, 1 or 2 nights) is complain about something. It can be noise, a draught coming through the window, not being able to get window open, air conditioning being noisy or not working, the room service disturbing you, other guests waking you up, the bed being too hard or too soft, the pillows not being right. Literally WHATEVER would stop you having a good nights sleep and that you'd like your money back.

They cannot argue, the front of house staff are told not to question you or deny you that. It's their guarantee, they cannot go back on it and they won't.

You just have to point out that you know they guarantee it or your money back and that since you did not have a good night, you want your money back.

We did it twice in Glasgow. At two seperate PTI's and both times, they paid up.

Bit sneaky maybe but hey, they offer that stoopid guarantee and all the staff tell everyone they know about it. Hence how I found out about it. My sister was a receptionist and then a reservationists with them for years and heard every excuse for not getting a good nights sleep from customers but they HAD to honour and pay out.

One word of caution though, every time you do it, it's marked on the screen under your name and address and 3 strikes and they can refuse to accept a future booking from you so don't do it more than a couple of times is my advice. Or do it and then book with someone else as the lead name next time and do it again. Sneaky but it works.

They will refund you how you paid so if you don't wanna wait for it to clear on a card, pay cash.

  • Even though I won't be there next weekend, this is definitely worth knowing.
