  • I thought it was because there was a problem with the statements not showing the correct amount? We have had people on here saying that their statementd showing that the information was incorrect with together mortgages pre 2006! I personally think they dont know their bum from their elbow anymore!

    Their comms are terrible.

    i) I have spotted that the account number on the December letter is not mine (or not an account number I am aware of)

ii) When NRAM had a "hiccup" with their direct debits around May/June 2012, one member of staff told me I'd have a black mark against my credit and would no longer be entitled to payment holidays and it was basically all my fault. I checked with the bank, who confirmed that no DD had been requested by NRAM. When I spoke with another member of staff I was told while my payment was not taken as scheduled due to their system probs, I was not late in paying as my payment is taken on the 1st of the month and people have all month to pay, so no harm done.

As I said in my OP, all the communications seemed to suggest it was about the statements being incorrect, not the original loan, so this was news to me...

Given my experience in June I think I might just take the conversation today with a pinch of salt.

Yes it doesn't add up - they have said 150,000 custs are affected but if the only customers affected are those with mortgages sold in 2007 / 8 then based on a typical / average loan of £100,000 they would have to have sold £15bn of mortgages in the period. In reality they went bust in mid 07 and I've found one of their press releases which states that in the first half of 2007 they lent less than £11bn.

Also the point they made about writing to all customers because of press pressure is wrong - they only announced the issue to the press on the same day as the letters went out.

I suspect that they are being inundated with calls and the people answering don't have a clue.

Just to keep you all updated, i sent a letter before new year asking about if i was included or not. Also if not why not due to the confused messages. They have replied saying "thank you for your dissatisfaction we are looking into your complaint".
i didn't complain i just asked for clarification thats all! they will respond in 8 weeks so i will keep you all informed.
  • Brand new to this forum malarky so be kind! I had a northern rock loan in 2003-2010 for less than £25000. I have'nt received a letter fron NR and can't find anyone to contact
  • Hi, I'm new too.

I've been looking into settling my NR loan when I stumbled across this forum.

I took a loan for £25k in 2006. I don't have the original paperwork but I do know that I've only received one statement and that was in 2012. In fact I thought it odd that I'd received a statement at all having not had one previously.

I moved house mid December so I don't know if there was a letter sent out or not. My account number is 16 digits so does this automatically exclude me?

Is it worth contacting NRAM to request a copy of my original documentation? Are there any 'template' letters in existence?

Any help appreciated, I could really do with a break right now and this would help me out massively.
  • If your account number had 16 digits you're not affected by this, though it may be worth asking why you've only ever received one statement.
  • Hello everyone , I am new to this site aswell and I have a togeather mortgage with nram , my personal loan was for £21500 so fingers crossed they can sort this out ASAP for everyone , ps I received my letter off them so I no it does affect me.

I seem to fit the criteria - but not sure it was called a Together mortgage, and no letter either.

Does that mean I will not qualify?

Find what you can and see. I would then write to them with waht you have and see if you have a claim. I just sent a letter saying I think I fall in the criteria but there is alot of mis information about. I put this wording in.

I am writing to you in reference to the recent release of details around Northern Rock mortgages which have secured loans against them and possible refunds.
I took out a mortgage in xxx and have had a number of secured loans against these added over time. I understand you have written to a number of people so far (I am on various forums) but I haven’t had a letter.
Could you look into my situation as I feel I may be entitled to redress. If I am not entitled to any could you please clarify why not as the whole situation isn’t particularly clear.

Sounds like a good idea, thanks.
