Yes, wife just called to say one came through this morning.

Its pretty generic, outlining the issue and that they will contact again in 8 weeks if any redress is necessary.

So now it will be interesting to see if ALL customers get this letter, or just those likely to get the payout.

Took out Together mortgage in April 2007 with 25K unsecured element.

    Yellow.
  • So I've had my letter, my unsecured loan was £7.6k in 2005 on a together mortgage and I'm covered by CCA 1974.

Anyone close to it can give me an idea if I have a good chance?

Anyone with a loan over 25K, please let us know if you get a letter and what it says! (there is also a separate thread for discussing the issue for those of us with over 25K)
  • So if its not a Together mortgage you get nothing
  • Was the consumer credit act 1974 ammended in 2008? If not then surely the interest should be refunded from the begining of the loan not just from the take over because non of my statements have ever had my opening balance on. I have kept all the documentation regarding my together loan that i have been sent.

I cant help but laugh at those saying how lucky we are to be getting a windfall courtesy of the tax payer. Im a tax payer, hubbies a tax payer and most of my extended family are tax payers. I would quite happily give my "windfall" to the tax payers pot if it meant i could escape nram and their highly inflated interest rates and enjoy the lowest rates of all time. Yet i stupidly took this together mortgage out and im now paying the price. They are now denying me a loyalty discount due to a loophole and i should be grateful for this "windfall". Those tax payers would be all over it like a rash if it was there mortgage company but like previous posters have said we are all in this together. Sour grapes!!!! I will await my letter and feel no shame.

Well said. Sour grapes indeed. I wonder if the people who complain about it been a tax payers burden will refuse the refund if offered to them. I suggest not.
