Noddle

I owed o2 £105 that I didn't have and they sent it Westcot services, I found this out on November 5th I think it was.

Anyway I agreed to pay them £10 a month starting Nov 28 to clear it but it still hasn't reflected in my latest noodle update which says 2nd late payment and early arrears, I have contacted o2 and they are being so unhelpful I don't want a default on my file for something that I am currently paying off!

Any ideas why Noodle doesn't say Westcot has took it over yet?

When a debt is passed to a debt collector it will often remain on your credit file on the name of the original creditor, so it won't necessarily ever change to show westcot (although equally it could change and the 02 entry disappear and a westcot entry show instead).

Is there not actually a default showing yet? if not then that could appear soon if you have defaulted on the account sufficent that its been passed to a debt collector (the default could be in o2s name or could be under westcot).

However the credit file entry will be updated to show that the outstanding balance is gradually reducing (but the default balance will stay the same). But if you only made your first payment on November 28 then it could easily be mid Jan before this is reflected on your credit file.

  • I didn't default on it, it was the end of a contract and one month late so they passed it to Westcot the o2 rep told me they do this a lot, I'll see what it says next month, its not like I ignored it, the minute Westcot asked me to start paying it I did.

DCA's rarely update CRA's and there's nothing that says they have to either.

They could still enter a default on your credit file.
Even if it was only 1 month late when they passed it to westcot because you have arranged to pay in installments over a number of months this is not in accordance with the original terms & conditions.

They may just leave it as a late payments, or may mark it as being in an arrangement to pay, but it is possible a default will be entered.

  • Well my cousin was 2 months late in 2012 for over £400 and it never went as a default just late payments, I noticed Noddle only updated it on 1/10/12 before the first payment was made maybe thats why there is no arrangement to pay on it.

Noddle don't do any updating. The account owners do the updating.
