Free Sms/calls to canada?

can anyone tell me how to call canada cheap(advices and experience needed pls) and any way to sms free?

Hi,

We call Canada from our BT landline for 25p for 30 mins. We just dial 0901 895 0800 and when prompted ('please dial the number you wish to call') we dial 001 followed by the area code and number. You will get charged 25p even if the call is not answered though. Sorry don't know about SMS.

Hi I have four children and lots of friends in Canada. The cheapest phone line around that I have found is with Toucan and I have a deal where I pay 8.99 a month and can call Canada as often as I like and talk as long as I like with no further charges ie: connection charges. This coverage also covers any calls to the USA and about 16 European countries. So you can call Spain Italy France Germany Portugal etc etc all included in that price. Hope this helps. What is a SMS? Is that a text message? I do not use mobile phones very often and am not well up on them but would like to be able to text my kids sometimes. Taffy

Your paying to much the going rate from a BT Landline is about 0.5p a minute.

Are you calling from a landline or mobile, and what provider do you use.

If its a mobile is it contract or payg.

any online free sms,i use mobile phnoe pay and go,will switch to contract if there is good deal,any specific etwork provider..?.
what abt phone cards?

Hi Bill, Thsi site never ceases to amaze me. I thought the deal that I had with Toucan was the best deal out there considering how often I call Canada. My bill with Toucan last month was quite high and when I queried it I was told that they had increased the day time calling charges locally to 3 pence a minute and a 3 pence connection charge on top. I knew about the 3 pence a minute charge and try and keep my daytime phone calls to a minimum. With this new 3 pence connection charge it meant that I had to pay minimum of 6 pence a call even when I got an answering machine. This new scheme seems to be the one for me and I thank you very much for taking the time to post as you did. Anyone out there have this new phone service? Thanks again. Oh an after thought 3 of my children only have mobile phones in Canada and the Toucan deal included me calling mobile phones only in Canada tho as well as land lines. I had better check that out.

can anyone tell me any mobile offers on cheap calls to canada,other than land line cuz i dont use it much,thanks for all advices,i think sms is free online,i got some websites dont know if it works though

If your a Sky customer theirs also a Skytalk package available that will cover your requirements.

Canadian Mobiles are included in Euphony and Sky.
