I did this for a friends birthday in June. Here is what I remember I put in:
Microwave popcorn
Jack Daniels
Apollo 13 DVD
bottle of Maple Syrup
Betty Crocker pancake mix
carton of Florida Orange juice
Carton of blueberry juice ( with american logo- from Lidl)
bag of pretzels
statue of Liberty fridge magnet
Canvas picture of yellow taxi
Home made CD & Map of America showing the states.
The CD was a musical tour of America: started with We're coming to America, then went round the states. friend was to plot the route on the map. Other songs were: New York state of mind, sweet home Alabama, Tenessee waltz, some song by Flo-Rida, Nutbush city limits, Pensilvania 6500,Dakota, viva Las Vegas, Route 66,Hotel California. I have the full play list on the other pc if you'd like it. My friend thought it was great. She has 3 CD's of songs that make her smile.:)0 -

Ooh lovely gift idea! How about Borat's Cultural Learnings of America? Currently £3 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Borat-Cultural-Learnings-Glorious-Kazakhstan/dp/B000IOM9W0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355267455&sr=8-1
Or an American Slang dictionary: http://www.amazon.co.uk/McGraw-Hills-Super-Mini-Dictionary-McGraw-Hill-References/dp/0071492283/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1355267508&sr=1-3
You could also get pop tarts, Lucky Charms cereal etc The CD idea is great too - I did this for my friend when we went on a road trip a few years back. I made the cover by sticking a bunch of relevant pictures onto paper and then photocopying the whole thing which gave it a really cool vintage/scrapbook feel.0 -
