Best day over Christmas period as an adult?

Was thinking the other day about when I enjoyed a day most and it has got to have been Boxing Day about 10 years ago.

Mum & I had decided that we would go racing that day, decided which course we would go to and were really looking forward to it. Everyone knew that we were going and were probably a bit jealous!

Anyway, the day arrived, up early as I was looking at a good 2 hour drive to the meeting. The two of us looked out the kitchen window to guage what we needed to wear to be greeted by a covering of snow and then frost & black ice:eek: Took one look at each other and said "no!". Lit the coal fire in the living room, wood burner in kitchen and then hit the beds again! Got up a couple of hours later, skipped breakfast and had lovely warm lunch, parked in front of the tv, where we had a successful day at the races!

Best part of it all was, because everyone knew we supposed to be gone that day, the phone or doorbell didn't ring once and we could do what we wanted without worrying about looking after anyone.

And you know what, we have never told anyone that we didn't actually go that day:D

Have to say we go away most christmases and thankfully all our relatives believe that you cant get any mobile reception in Kenya/ Sri Lanka/ Thailand/ Jordan etc when we say we will be out of communication

Xmas is so much better when its around 25C and in a non-christian country particularly

A few years ago, my cousin was a manager at a local hotel which closed for Christmas.

We used to all go to the hotel, My Mum is 1 of 7 all are married and have children. I have 17 first cousins, some of which have had children themselves. Possibly the only time we will ever all be together other than funerals or weddings.

The chefs would prepare our dinner on Xmas eve, then it just needed putting in the oven. All jobs were shared, from washing up to laying the table.

On boxing day we would all have champagne breakfast in the leisure facility and go swimming!

So for me it would be all 3 - Eve, day and boxing day. It's the most wonderful time of the year! (IMO)

Until now.

My favourite day is christmas day, christmas morning we go visiting the inlaws and my family, then home to cook the dinner and in for the day, love it love it love it! Wouldn't have it any other way.

Christmas Eve because it's my birthday
Christmas Day because of the children 10 & 7
Boxing Day because it's a catch up day
