They have the topside joints in Sainsbury's at £4.99 a kilo at the mo, I managed to get one that was £8 ish, it cooked up very well and was lovely and tender. I only cooked half and put the other half in the freezer, if that's any help.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Morrisons are doing vacuum packed beef roasting joints at £4.95 a kilo at the moment ("Better than half price" - apparently!) I picked one up at the weekend for over the Christmas period.0

I've just seen those online, but they are Taste the Difference joints, the ones that were £4.99 were the 'normal' Irish beef ones.
Perhaps once they've gone they've gone, so they may still have some instore but aren't advertising them online anymore at £4.99? They certainly had a lot left on Friday when I went.

This is in Asda at £5.00 a kg. They are quite large but I bought a few last Christmas and cut it into small joints for DH and I. As it's even cheaper per kg than casserole pieces or shin for stewing I cut some into cubes as well and portioned it up for the freezer. Lasted us well into the new year and I plan to do it again.0 -
which is the better quality from Asda or Morrisons? I'm keen to buy one for Xmas too to go with 2 other meats that are on offer that I can't eat (turkey serves 6-8 and gammon serves 4-5 - yak!) There'll be 11 of us and wondering if the large ones of the Asda is big enough. I'd rather go on the quality tho'. I too, and the others would like it med. rare but sometimes cheap beef from s/m tend to be tough tho' imo.0

I've bought a couple of these as they are a very good buy at half the normal price. They freeze very well & as PP says you can half it & freeze half.
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker
