Job Search

I'm currently unemployed and live in Manchester city centre. I have been working as a data assistant for a year now (temporary) and wish to progress to a more ambitious role with more responcibility for example a data analyst. That was a plug for all you employers!!
Anyway I wish to post a thread with the best sites on the internet that have the most jobs available and are easy to search and navigate. So I'll start off with the most obvious which is the job centre.
http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/index.html
Another great site is
http://www.jobrapido.co.uk/
It enables you to search through over 400,000 jobs posted on job boards, recruiting agency and company websites. Negative thing is that you might have to register with an agency.
Agencies seem to annoy me a little and I wish to apply for jobs directly to companies. Can anyone suggest a quicker way to do this than to search for companies manually on the internet and then go to their careers page.
I mean there will be more chance of me getting a job this way since it's less likely that people will find the job and apply.
Thank you.

gojobsite.com and reed.co.uk are pretty good too. Jobs.co.uk will also search a few websites for you.0

I'm trying to contact companies directly through their website. I've been looking at the university sites, police and council. Are there any other areas that I can look for?0

Are there any websites where you can search the distance of a job location from a postcode. I know the jobcentre and monster have this function.
I really need to step up this job hunting malaky but there are so many useless job websites when I search through google.
Thank You.0 -

try guardian jobs as well. ( particularly office hours -monday, societyjobs wednesday) theres a manchester equivalent as well.
there are a fair amount of jobs in the MEN and also stockport times.
have you tried office angels- the manchester one was excellent when I lived there, they had loads of data jobs, but I just coulndt do them ( me & figures- not good!)
For local government jobs, I like https://www.lgjobs.co.uk https://www.charityjob.co.uk, https://www.charitypeople.co.uk ( agency) https://www.jobs.ac.uk ( acadmia & unis) ALso worth speaking to your local NHS trusts to see if they have data shuffling jobs going on- having worked in the nhs I can tell you now targets and figures are excptionally important!
I just did a quick google on manchester+data+job and quite a lot came up there. so try that if you havetn already:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Probably best for IT related jobs, but https://www.jobserve.com appears to be one of the best!0

https://www.reed.co.uk are good as other agencies post their vacancies on there because Reed don't charge them... I also put my cv on monster and got a couple of responses from there...
