You might want to try www.confused.com for car insurance - you only have to put in your details once and then it goes off and searches lots of other insurance companies for you. Saves typing everything in 20 times or making 20 phone calls.

They saved me over £100 :)

Yeah sorry i meant to put the ntl bill includes phone line rental, broadband, and the 'family pack' with cable and also the phonebill itself .

I figured that out but you can still make savings on the phone calls side of it, using companies such as 1899 and 18866.

Before MSE I was paying ..

    £ 27.99 - internet
    £ 41.00 - Sky
    £ 12.50 - BT
    £ 20.00 - TalkTalk
    £101.49 per month

    Now ...

    £11.74 - internet
    £19.50 - Sky
    £12.50 - BT
    £ 2.00 - max, using a combo of One-Tel, 1899, 18866 for calls
    £45.74 per month

That's a hell of a saving and although I know with NTL you can only really make a difference with the phone side of it, but even that could make a huge difference depending on how much of that £86.66 is for phone calls made.

Have you tried https://www.elephant.co.uk for car insurance. I was insured as a learner driver with them along with H2B as the main driver, but it was only about 300 I think and that was fully comprehensive for both of us.

Just a tip for you car tax -

The tax on our car is due a week before the MOT, this time around it was a huge expense as we bought 12 months tax and then had to have repairs done to the car (£170 in total, and now OH has had a bump in the car which wasn't his fault, but might need some repairs to the boot so we'll have to see if that will cost us or the other party - I know it should be up to the other party but knowing our luck ... ). Next time the tax is up for renewal, I'm planning on only buying 6 months, spreading the cost of MOT(April), Tax (will become due end of September) & Insurance (End of Nowember) over the 12 months. This year as money is very tight, I'll be putting £5 a month away for the tax (already got £30 away so I can spend £30 elsewhere for the minute - robbing Peter to pay Paul again) and then hopefully next September I can start putting £10 a month away and then pay for 12 months tax the following year.

Sorry for rambling and I hope it makes sense what I've just said!
