I've been doing some searching on ideas for home made gifts for a project I'm working on and there have been ideas I've found that are so extraordinary they have made me laugh. I wondered if there is room for a thread about HM present-making that has gone wrong, or presents that one would really not like to receive ie HM stuff having lost all track of reality. That Bow necklace on Superscrimpers last week(?) would definitely qualify.
Apologies to anyone who loves this, or has made it as a gift for someone this Christmas, but can I volunteer this 'find' from the Martha Stewart site for a 'big ball necklace' as a starter?

Wow, that's hideous! And utterly ridiculous :rotfl:0 -
If someone gave me that as a gift I would have to think they didnt like me very much at all!Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'

That one is really terrible! Looks like something a six year old would make at school and then the mother would have to wear it proudly so the child didn't feel bad XD~"I don't cook so much since we moved out of reality...."~0

Back in the 70s a relative gave my mother a bundle of string with a rather rude tuft on the end. Rolled up in the wrapping paper it looked like an elephant whip or a fetish item

Turns out it was a macrame 'planter' hanger.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Thanks for that luxor4t

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the necklace is er... 'unusual' then.:rotfl:
Has anyone found any others? I've gone through some more projects on that site and there's this one which looks as if someone started knitting a sock but got the size of needles wrong and in a very MSE moment decided to repurpose the sample they'd finished.

Maybe it would work in another colour... ok, maybe not.
There's also this stunner 'Add some fun and fashion to everyday dog-cleanup bags'. The video is in two parts but, be warned, the whole thing lasts for about 15 minutes:eek:

I'm going to stop looking for more. Life is too short!

I've just wasted 15 minutes of my life! Why on earth would anyone want to waste time and expend any effort on making one of those? However, I do have the urge to try ironing plastic bags together just to see what effect it has :rotfl::o
