Bank asking me questions I can't answer!

Brains - it seems clear that the OP is not using a claims company otherwise the bank wouldn't be asking him anything. There is loads of free help available to make your PPI claim, you just need to look (at this site, among others). Making a claim is easy; there are no complicated questions and hence no reason to "make a hash of it". The only reason you may make a hash of it is if you don't really have a claim for mis-selling!....Practically Perfect in Every Way......:grinheart0

Actually, some banks have been known to try and get in contact with customers who are making PPI claims through a claims company, it's a tactic to try and get the person making the claim to either come to an arrangement with them that is much less than they will be entitled to even factoring in the claims company fee or to get them to inadvertently say something that will mess up the claim.
I'm glad you have faith that banks will pay up if they know they're guilty without trying to get out of it anyhow they can, I wish I shared your faith in them:D, what the OP's bank is asking him are of course questions that they should have asked BEFORE selling him the PPI in the first place, they should know the answers:rotfl:, the fact that they don't is an admission he was mis-sold, they are taking the mick, stalling for time and hoping he will give answers that will get them off the hook or draw a blank which will result in the same thing.
Because aside from it not being made clear that it was PPI one of the other designations of PPI mis-selling is that it wasn't needed by an individual even if they were made aware they were buying it, now if you can't say whether you needed it or not it's difficult to argue you "didn't need it" isn't it??, presumably, this might be what this case is hanging on.0 -
Brains: My bank didn't argue in any way and settled to my satisfaction within 3 weeks. They didn't even make me fill in that claim form.....they just accepted my letter explaining why I had never needed PPI. No stalling. And I got the original information I needed from their own designated helpline. Of course, I was actually in the right and not just taking a punt but even so, I was extremely impressed by their responses. Not everyone who claims is entitled to get their money back....I see no reason why the banks shouldn't query a claim because not all PPI was mis-sold.....Practically Perfect in Every Way......:grinheart0

BRAINS,,,Why give a company over 30% of your money away for them sending the same letter that you can get from here for free....Madness...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

I think you'll find that MOST of it was mis-sold by banks, especially over the last decade or so, that's the whole point about PPI and banks, in fact, I think banks have got a cheek to be even querying any claim, it's laughable :rotfl:, if they were half decent they would just give customers with PPI an automatic refund without them even applying, it was epidemic mis-selling if there has ever been such a thing and they know this very well.
The record amounts they've all put aside for refunds says it all, the main problem is just getting them to admit it and pay up, some will (great no help needed there), others will play hard ball (there you need help) and make it as difficult as they can, pay as little as they can get away with if at all, don't believe that there won't be a lot of cases where someone will be entitled and won't get a refund because the banks cleverly got out of it, I doubt if banks even bother to investigate to see if their is a legit claim, they know there's likely to be one without even checking, they "investigate" to see what they can come up with to not pay up:D0
