stopping a credit card payment

Hi
My boyfriend's got a credit card problem. He has a subscription to an online site that he wants to stop. He's tried emailing them to tell them, but they don't reply and they won't stop it. So he's gone to his credit card company, and told them, but they say, we can't stop it, you'll have to go to the people how are taking it. It's not like its fraud or theft as such, as the debit was set up legitimately, but surely the card company should stop it if he asks them to, like a bank? any thoughts? Thanks.

If its a CPA no - the customer willingly gave his number to the company so he has to go back to them to stop it.
The credit card company have no knowledge of this authority.
However he could go back and claim the transaction is fraudelent as he has tried to stop it and ask the card company to do a chargeback.
He might have to do this a number of times until they get the message.
You might also want to teach your boyfriend to be very careful as to who he gives this type of authority to.0 -
I once had this problem with a company in the U.S. They wouldn't reply to my emails or letters so i conveniently lost the card so the card provider would have to change the number. Sorted the problem straight away. They then kept sending me reminders that my card had been declined and could i give them them another card number, i ignored them, they soon got the message.0

HI changkra
The guy he spoke to at the credit card company basically said this, i.e. cut up the card and cancel the account and start up a new one. So he may have to go this way. Thanks

Hi Ejones
I'll let him know about this option. I think the guy he got on the other end of the phone was not the sharpest tool in the box.
Thanks
