Hi i have a debt that is from 2004 originated in Holland but i have CCI legal chasing me for it even though it is statute barred anyway,in August i got a letter saying they were seeking advice from their client to get permission to take this to court its now December and got a letter today threatening to send a field agent to recoup all the debt or to come to a suitable agreement for regular payments
also to ask neighbours about my status do searches on my finacial and employment details and list my assets also do credit searches that will be recorded and may effect my chance of recieving credit in the future.
Is this possible? Why wouldnt they just go through the courts like they threatend to in the first place?
Is it because the debt is uninforcable so they are trying bullyboy tactics ? The letter itself is just a printed bog standard looking one any sensible helpful advice would be appreaciated many thanks and all the best.

They are being economical with the truth there. Only searches they should be able to do are "unrecorded" ones. Those show up on your credit files to you, but no-one else. Any prospective creditor would not see them, so would not effect any credit scoring.
Does sound to me as if they know they are stuffed and are trying scare tactics now.....Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

With Fermi on that. They have tried the "refer to their client" to take it to court.
They clearly failed on that as they are now threatening "doorstep collection". Very unlikely that someone will turn up, but if they do you can simply treat them the same way that you would you neighbour's dog if it wandered it to your garden. Shoo them away. They have the same rights as your neighbour's dog...
As for talking to your neighbours, you have a very strong complaint to OFT and Trading Standards if they do.
Have you asked for a copy of your credit agreement for this account before? If so, what was the result?BSC No 248

Hi Lensman, thanks for the reply and help, i havent aknowledged this debt in any shape or form it was from Holland 9 years ago the Dutch dca tried to contact me but failed then im guessing it was passed on or bought by cci legal who have tried also in vain to get me to bite as have been tol there is far too much red tape to enforce a foreign debt that is statute barred so i will just dig my heels in i think..........0
