    i forgot to say earlier In asda they had large gammon joint - boneless gammon with a sweet honey glaze 700g RTC (not woopsied) for £2.50 and lamb shoulder joint - tender, boneless lamb with mint stuffing, garnished with rosemary 454g RTC for £3. they also had beef/pork/chicken/turkey with the same RTC labels but oos. very good value I thought

    Dear wookey

    Main question: Are these fresh or frozen ?

    BTW bought 99 12p wishes last night (they were in the 'no mans land ' of the checkout area where no check outs are ever open !( Always check the check out area) and 1 net white choc coins 23p. Snow bites full price, 6 gingerbread men rtc 50p. Oh dear only 97 wishes left now.They are 'lush' I believe is the word used these days ! And there are 60 wishes in a box (5 rows of 12 bags) unless they've been fiddled about with.
    Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

    I completely understand that you are worried and upset about what may happen but I think it is important to remember that any assets do belong to your FIL and it is up to him what he does with them. Your Husband doesn't have any rights over the assets until and unless his father gives them to him in his will. And even if FIL did that, MIL , as his legal wife, could contest the will if she has not been properly provided for. Even if MIL dies first, FIL could decide to leave everything to Battersea Dogs Home if he felt like it and its more than likely that your Husband couldn't argue against it. Unless your FIL is extremely wealthy I would try to stop worrying about it all and just try to enjoy whatever time your FIL has left.

    I don't know anything about your personal circumstances or relationships and it may well be that promises have been made re money and assets so I don't want to sound judgemental. However, in general (and I'm not suggesting that this applies to you) , I do find it all a bit unpleasant when adult children assume that parents have an obligation to leave them anything at all. I've met too many elderly people who are just about scared to spend any money on themselves because their adult children expect an 'inheritance' !

    I fully intend to spend my hard earned assets on enjoying my old age with my Husband. If anything is left when I kick the old bucket, the family are welcome to it - but none of them know what I've got or what my Will states about who gets what.

    Wise words tbw - i agree with you. As my dear dad says, "where there is a will, there's a ...... relative". :rotfl:

    Sorryaboutmywife - i dont mean to offend you in any way :o but the saying always springs to my mind re: families and wills.

    I agree with all that you say although I would think it rather unfair in a hypothetical situation such as this;

    where my father left me nothing in the will when most of his assets had been generated by my deceased mother and he then left these assets to my stepmother. Just a thought. Just highlights the importance of making a will really:)

  • Well our Tesco seems to be full of trouts who will only take one of the dairy and one of the finest in one transaction however much you have bought.
    I picked a right one yesterday who spent ages reading every word on the voucher ,I asked her if it was the first one she had seen ( sarcasm was lost on her though .:rotfl:

    There is one particular [STRIKE]troutie[/STRIKE] woman who checks, double checks and triple checks each coupon looking to pick up a reason to say no - all done with a smiley veener but underneath I just know she is wanting to find a reason not to put ANY coupons through :rotfl:
    Got my own back a Sunday about a month ago. I was at next till and noticed she had lined up 3 or 4 baskets, upside down, on her conveyer belt and was doing nothing at 3.40pm! I turned round and saw woman behind had a basket and suggested the other till may be quicker than waiting behind people with trolleys......she went over and so did others as they realised the till was in fact open despite the lined up baskets :rotfl: cashiers face was like thunder :D.
