Christmas present help for my gran

I'm absolutely at a loss as to what to get my nan this year for christmas.

She's 78, doesn't do food gifts, smellies, clothes, vouchers, doesn't have any hobbies apart from football, but has EVERYTHING - including her season ticket - already. She's a carer for her son so doesn't have too much free time.

I have been on every online shop and in every shop I can think of and I have run out of ideas.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

a trip to her favourite football teams ground and a tour etc?

we got our son one a couple of years ago, and a brick with his name on it at the ground

    Hi globetraveller,

    about £200ish.

She doesn't have time to read magazines as a full time carer, and has been around the ground a fair few times. She's very good friends with Mike Summerbee, so gets a few perks! it also makes it blooming impossible.
  • Is there any way you could offer respite and book her a weekend away?

    Hi Bella,

We have tried respite days, and my uncle gets very unwell whenever this has happened in the past, so she wouldn't be too keen on it. He gets agitated if she goes shopping for 2 hours! I feel so bad for having to turn down ideas but they just wouldn't be realistic, and its why I've asked for some help.

I think she would kill me if I bought her anything to do with being old Mint1955, she's 78 years old, but in her head she's 40!
  • Aw that's a shame but I can understand :-(

Is there any activities her and her son can do together?

    Hi Bella,

They go to football together, but that is irregular and he can be quite a handful (he's 54 and not a small man!). My mum pays for their season tickets every year, even though I use it more than he does. He's quite insular, and going out is literally a pain in the bum and usually involves at least 3 of us to be on hand in case he isn't on his best behaviour. They do watch TV together, but not series of things so can't get DVD's etc. She does like strictly come dancing, but trying to find someone else to cover if she went to the show would be pretty difficult.
Just feel like banging my head against a wall! But thankyou for your help :) it really is appreciated.
  • My grandparents liked the hamper we did for them with lots of little gifts in. Or they love it when i make presents for them. Maybe you could get her garden done for her or decorate her bedroom, sounds like she has to stay in a lot so making her home better or more luxurious might be good.
