'24.7 Moneybox' Scam

I received a letter today supposedly from this company stating "We tried to collect £240.48 from your debit card as per the terms of your agreement with us. Collection has failed, and as a result of this failure, fees and charges are now being added to your balance". On it went with instructions on how to pay/contact them.

I have never heard of this company and never had loan. First thoughts are that this is a straightforward scam/phishping exercise.

Having googled the company name, they do indeed exist...but who knows who really sent me this letter. Has anyone else had similar experience?

Ring them and ask what there playing at if its got your name on it

It's easy to ignore an email. Just ring them.

Could be identity theft...someone used your name and address for a loan, bud didn't have correct bank details to set up the payments...?

But do not, under any circumstances, give them your debit card details even so that they can "check" that they have the right one!

Before you ring, check its not a premium rate number.

Dont even bother to ring them, they have an online chat facility. Use that instead.
