Hi, I got a mortgage through the nationwide and sent off documents proving who i was - a P60, wage slips and a copy of my drivers license and passport.
I got a letter back from them today that opened really easily which contained all of the above except the copy of the passport and driving license.
Do the nationwide keep these? I'm concerned that they were not included.
I am on the phone to them just now, but the queue is like the M25 in rush hour.

If they were copies, it is likely that the Nationwide would keep the copies and send you back only your original documents as appears to have happened.
However, I can only speak from the way we do things here. All original documents are scanned and returned to the customer by recorded/registered post .
However, Nationwide may be different so you do right to check with them.
Another piece of advice if you are concerned and want peace of mind is to subscribe to a service like https://www.creditexpert.co.uk so you can monitor your credit file on an ongoing basis and detect any suspicious activity early such as credit searches you don't expect, new accounts appearing etc etc.

I just tried to get my report from Experian and their service is down so cannot handle my request.
Apparently the Nationwide use the Swindon mortgage center and they don't work Saturdays. The girl at the nationwide I spoke to said they don't usually return photocopies, but they returned my P60 which was a photocopy.
There wasn't even a cover letter in the envelope which was less than professional in my book.HelpWhereIcan wrote: »If they were copies, it is likely that the Nationwide would keep the copies and send you back only your original documents as appears to have happened.
