30th (Pearl) Anniversary Card

Hi
I know it's mainly weddings threads on here but was wondering if someone crafty could help.
It's my boyfriends' parents 30th anniversary and they're having a party. They've asked for no gifts so I want to make a really pretty card. Since 30th is 'pearl' I thought I could make it pearl themed e.g. buy a pearly-bracelet from Primark and cut it up to decorate it etc but have no idea what I could use to make the shell.
Any ideas? Or any other ideas for pearl anniversary cards?
