Prosecco is a sparkling wine from NE Italy made from prosecco grapes. These wines are less intensely dry than Champagne, while still being dryish.

Compared to Champagne Prosecco has a more floral and pretty aroma, with pear and pear drops. It tends to be light on flavour, though that suits a lot of people.

Prosecco may also appeal more to Pinot Grigio drinkers. This isn't meant to be an insult by the way, I'm not a big wine drinker, and anyway this info was taken from Quaffers Offers.
