Farmers' market finds

Has anyone else had good experiences grocery shopping at farmers' markets? First going to one near my house, I expected to spend quite a lot, mentally justifying it with thoughts of all those Pripyatian substances I wasn't consuming. But I walked away with two kilograms of organic local potatoes for £1, and five similarly self-righteous apples for 50p.

I usually find them to be pricey but the quality is certainly excellent (in most cases)
As lovely as they probably are though I do baulk at paying £4.80 for 6 sausages :eek:0 -
My farmers market has just won a BBC Good Food award! Sutton Bonington if anyone cares. Anyway, some of the stuff is a little expensive but it is all local businesses and it feels as good as it tastes to make a few purchases!
Bargains this time round include 12 bottles of Flipside real ale - certified as fab by my OH, for £25. Elizabeths Patisserie do delicious bread at £2 -£2.50 a loaf - I chose a feta and olive loaf for £2.20. Local honey by Beez Neez at £3-£5 for a large jar and many flavours to choose from. A leukemia charity was doing beautiful handmade xmas decorations with felt and scrap material - a lady was doing them on the stall, they were £1.50 each - my best bargain! And a delicious longhorn cattle burger with cheese and onions for £3.50 - worth every penny!
Agree with the veg prices being good - lots to chose from, local and competitively priced!

I've not been for ages as the petrol costs so much to get to the nearest decent one. I used to stock up on the phesants, rabbit ect as it was all cheap. Think it was 5 for £10 at the time.0
