David Ferguson Used Cars Newtownards?

Hi,

I'm considering buying a used car from this dealer but as I don't live in this area I do not know anything of his reputation.

Does anyone know or have experience of this dealer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Laura :)

He is no better/worse than many others. Important thing to do is get car inspected to ensure it's road worthiness.

A dealer is required to offer to sell a road worthy vehicle

Davy Ferguson has been in the the car trade for about 30 years in the North Down Area

He used to have retail pitch in Newtownards but I think he now trades from the house. I think high rates/rent prompted this move

    Regards getting the car inspected?

Before you pay for an inspection!

    What is the deal????

How old is the car? What is the asking price ? Are you offering a trade-in?

    What warranty are you getting?

I didn't mean they would sell a dangerous car ballyblack. But if it is 5 years old plus it may start to be more likely to needing parts replaced sooner rather than later, which a mechanic would hopefully notice.

Had a look at his website there. His cars seem reasonably priced, hes keeping lower end stock and they're quite well presented.

Not seeing anything amiss there other than he has no mention of warranty on his site and also he has no business address on there - something i think you're legally obliged to do.

a car dealer is required to give a retail customer a warranty

The dealer will normally fully service the car to pre-empt (hopefully) any fault occurring during the time of the warranty

No they're not. This is very wrong.

They are obliged to 'warrant the condition of the car'. Thats very different. By warranting the condition the dealer is saying the car is free from any defects, other than those explicitly stated.

A dealer will NOT normally fully service a car unless its due a full service. They are however obliged to check the car is free from defects and either correct these or point these out to any prospective purchaser.

A dealer may choose to offer a warranty over and above that but they are not obliged to.
