These threads are getting tedious at best, the OP needs to move on.

The younger generation can take solace in the latest Iphone to cushion the blow.

The OP is a well known wind-up merchant, it's what he gets off on. It would cruel to ignore him/her. Such a tactic would no doubt be blamed on the heartlessness of the baby boomers.

    It worked for us.

How can rents be "impossibly high" when so many people are capable of paying it? I'd imagine void periods in London are quite low too.

Yes, the OP is a windup merchant, but using the fate of this poor suicidal chap to forward his generational hate agenda is just sick.

Agreed, though you'd have to level the same at the Grauniad.

Trolls have little sense of proportion in my experience.

Considering he left a suicide note blaming student debt and a hopeless future as a young person I think the article is reasonable in its discussion of debt and putative hopeless futures of young people.

I'm not going to not post articles from national newspapers because it offends the sensibilities of people who refuse to accept generational inequality and seem to think the cure for everything that ails younger people involves iphones and pulling their socks up.

And the faux righteous indignance is nothing short of pathetic, and actually is quite offensive.

Feeling hope less and being stuck in the debt trap isn't just a young persons problem.

Many old people are in the same position and some take their own lives.

Whilst one individual being overwhelmed is saddening there are no doubt thousands, of youngsters, that are just getting on with their lives and enjoying their youth as best they can. Who knows a bad relationship could have had the same affect instead if the person was vulnerable..

Youth is wasted on the young.

Mental health issues are a taboo in this country. So swept under the carpet. I'm sure his issues were far deeper and most likely there was a history.

Oh, the hard Lefty Guardian and its mates.

Let's have a few facts. Who put student fees up so high?

    The Guardian's friends NuLabour.

Who allowed unfettered mass immigration that has forced massive wage deflation and chronic unemployemnt, especially amongst the young?

    The Guardian's friends NuLabour.

Who decided we should put 50% of the population through university, instead of apprenticeships, technical colleges and train people with skills that are needed.

    The Guardian's friends NuLabour.

Who caused the hosuing bubble of 1997 to 2007? Which made property ownership so difficult and renting so expensive?

    The Guardian's friends NuLabour.

Unfortunately the Tories under Cameron have become BluLabour and will carry on their policies, but make no mistake, the blame lies firmly at the door of the Guardian lefties and their ilk.

The economy and employment along with housing was in a good state when the NuLabour/Guardianistas inherited it in 1997. By the time they left in 2010 they had left the country bankrupt.
