LIne curtains with fleece, ikea do very cheap cost blankets that are fab for thisread on another forum about window quilts (how weird they are as have never heard of them before!) where you can buy cheapo ones from Primarnie for £2.70 apparently
You may find in a few weeks she'll come round to your ideas, it's only been a few days, i wnet 3 years without heating when i was younger and by the end of it i was willing to try anything, unfortunatly i was too poor for internet aswell so i didn't have all these great tips)(
I'm also trying to find a super compact desk with some shelving (and small foldaway table and chair) and have looked into compact living furniture, but all looks rather pretty with a pretty price tag too. i've written a new thread about this in "I want to do this and buy that" as she has nowhere to eat, sit and do her work (latter is another reason why she's at BF's due to space and broadband). Has anyone ever had to help an adult child out with bedsit living in london before? it's all rather a bit worrying...:o0 -
Re the clingfilm for windows - when you buy it on ebay the pack comes with double sided tape - I never bothered to clean mine off wooden frames and I knew I'd be doing it again but I'm sure it would clean off ok - do a little test first somewhere.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

At the risk of sounding harsh I think that you should leave your daughter to it - she sounds more than capable! Lets face it she's solved the problem of having enough space and enough hot water by living off her boyfriend, and for some reason you are trying to coldproof and furnish her bedsit, efforts for which she doesn't seem to be especially grateful!
If she can afford to rent two bedsits and still get her BF to let her live with him then I'd say she is sitting pretty and you should reserve your efforts and your money for yourself!0 -
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70161829/#/90179786 and work space underneath perhaps?
I'm inclined to say let her sort it out and come to you if she chooses to seek advice. Might be cheaper to move in with BF!0 -
Your daughter may not need this, but I use a dry buddy rather than a tumble dryer to dry my clothes and it also heats up the room. It is similar to using a hairdryer inside a tent, lol, and costs about 13p an hour to run, which is about a third of the price of a tumble drier.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0
