Pine scents can be tricky as it's a thin line between lovely Christmas tree & toilet duck with some of these air freshners, etc. I've got a room-fragrancing oil from the Bodyshop that you use on the ordinary oil burners over a tealight. It's 'Garland' & is fresh & pine-tree like. I've also tried burning their 'Fireside' which is a subtle wintery fragrance slightly woodsmokey, hard to describe but we like it. Their 'Cranberry Joy' is lovely one. Everyone who has visited our house while it's been burning has commented on how nice & fresh & Christmassy it is.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

    Hi,
Just read this thread and thought I'd tell you what I've done this year.
This is my first year I don't have a real tree so missing the smell. I have lots of pine cones in and around my garden so I collected them all up and dried them in my airing cupboard for a few days.
I now put a few at a time in my wood burning stove and the smell of pine trees comes into the room.
It is like I have a real tree :D

Appreciate not everyone will have a woodburner or access to pine cones but if you do then try it as it is great.

We have a wood burner - do you have to leave the door open to get the smell or does this work with the door closed?
  • Hi savingmonkey,

When I have tested it I have had the door closed as was a bit scared they would spark out, the smell was light not overpowering at all.

When I try it again (probably at the weekend) I will leave door open as I would think this would make the smell come out more.

It is definitley worth a try :D
  • Crabtree and Evelyn Noel doesn't smell of pine, but it smells of christmas, it really does!
  • You cant go wrong with Yankee candles in my opinion. They do one called 'Mountain Pine' and its a lovely smell. I also have Apple Wreath which is a bit like cinnamon and all things christmassy!
They really are good. I noticed though that M and S are doing some good fragranced candles and room sprays this year if you dont want to spend quite as much. I smelt their 'Winter Wonderland' and it was gorgeous!
