  • Lanson Black Label Brut Champagne is currently £16.49 at Morrisons. Not sure if there are any extra offers if you purchase a few. They had an offer recently were you get 25% off if you buy six. Not sure if this still applies though. Pity they don't sell it at this price on Morrisons Wines as well. They appear to do free delivery as well.

    Also

Heidsieck Blue Top Dry Monopole Champagne Non-Vintage (75cl) £15 at ASDA (£20 at Sainsbury's)

Piper Heidsieck Brut Non Vintage Champagne (75cl) Was £29.93 Now £15 at ASDA

Marks & Spencer had an offer on Louis Chaurey Champagne which is normally £30 a bottle, the offer was £11.25 a bottle when you buy 6 (£67.50 for 6). Not sure if this offer is still on or if they apply the discount to your basket. Can't remember how it worked. Offer may also be in store as well if you're lucky.

A few more offers mentioned on Quaffers Offers and Mad About Bargains as well. Completely forgot about Mad About Bargains, not used this site for ages, though isn't always very reliable.

I believe Majestic's de Telmont Grande Reserve None Vintage is very good as well. Currently £16 a bottle. Total minimal order for Majestic's is six.

Pity Waitrose Blanc de Blancs Non Vintage isn't on offer, also a very good Champagne. Currently £22 though.

There's also 25% off Sainsbury's Blanc de Blanc Brut Non Vintage Champagne, currently £16.86. In addition you get a further 25% off when you buy 6 bottles. Offer is on until 11/12/2012.

Don't touch the Bissinger from Lidl it's truly dire. Lanson is dire as well.

They only one that I know is very good is Waitrose Blanc de Blancs Non Vintage though unfortunately isn't on offer. Pity!

I also had a look on Quaffers Offers earlier and saw a recommendation for Majestic's de Telmont Grande Reserve None Vintage. Slips down very nicely apparently, keeps it's fizz well as well.
  • Sainsbury's Blanc de Blanc Brut None Vintage Champagne (75cl) is currently £14.99 reduced from £22.49 until 01/01/2013.
  • I recommend the £12.99 one from aldi its also got some reward, sorry i cant remember any more details.

Philizot & Fils Champagne Brut 75cl £12.99 at Aldi as recommended by blackburn_w

ASDA Louis Bernard Champagne Brut Non Vintage (75cl) £14.50

Tesco Finest Premier Cru Non Vintage Champagne 75Cl £14.99 - available until 01/01/2013.

These beat even the more expensive bestselling Moët & Chandon NV Champagne apparently.

Best champagne for Christmas - Which?

I'd much rather have really good cava than bad Champagne. Clos Monistrol Vintage Cava (750ml) (£10.49) is a great one from Sainsburys and is often on special offer (got a few bottles last week for around £6.99 each). I do love Champagne (Bollinger and Veuve are my favourites) but rarely drink them nowadays due to lack of money. Unless you're an expert I'd challenge most people to spot the difference between Champagne and a really good cava in a blind tasting test.
  • People are actually paying for the region so it seems. There's also a lot of snobbery around both Cava and Champagne. The technique of making it is most likely the same I guess.
