Petrol Station Scandal

I recently decided to give my car a wash so decided to go to my local Garage to use their jet wash facility.
I decided that my car was dirty enough to wash my car for 12 minutes and not the usual 6 minutes that i would normally purchase a token for, it's in 6 minute sessions you see
.
I received my token for the sum off £5.99 which seemed like a bargain to me, I washed my car and went home. I was very happy. :T
Later that week My partner required her car to be cleaned so I decided to go back to the Garage again and wash the car. As Her car is not a dirty as mine I opted for the 6 minute option.
Imagine my horror when the cashier charged me £2.99 for my 6 minutes. It immediately dawned on me that I have previously paid £5.99 for 12 minutes meaning that i had overpaid as had I purchased 2 tokens at £2.99 I would have paid just £5.98 for the previous 12 minute wash!!

I find this kind of rip off by my garage appalling and suffice to say I may never go there again, they refused to reimburse me the 7p i have wasted over the last 3 years on this token scam.
Be careful should you visit this chain, dont fall fowl to the same thing as me.
This could be a positive for some, if you use this system to buy 599 washes, technically to 600th is free! :T :T
Good luck saves!

Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
Welcome BigDave
Your first post is an example to us all.
In true monesaving style you have made us aware of this pernicious money grabbing scheme and have prevented thousands of us being ripped off.
Good work.... :beer:0 -
I'm extremely pleased that Dave has alerted us to this dreadful chain of events.
It's a timely reminder that we should all take the time to work out the prices of things, before we go ahead and spend money on them.
Personally, I would have used my own bucket and sponge, and washed my car at home, in true moneysaving style.0 -
I think someone's having a laugh. £3 for 6 minutes. £6 for 12 minutes (each rounded down by a penny as is the normal practice) and he's trying to say it's a scam?
Seems perfectly normal to me. Do your trolling somewhere else.0 -

Our local Indian takeaway offers a 10% discount of collection with cash payment. It isn't actually 10% - they work out 10% then round the total price up to the nearest 10p. So a meal for £10.90, should cost £9.81 after the discount - they will charge £9.90.
After several months (we go there every week), we started rounding the prices down to the nearest 10p (so the example above would cost us £9.80) and giving them the exact money!! They were grumpy at first but now have got used to us doing this and we always get the "reduced" price!!0
