Went into the nationwide to pay the mortgage off this morning. Hoorah! The cashier was lovely and excited for us paying off the mortgage which I thought was great. However Ive just checked my online account and the mortgage doesnt read 0 yet. Bummer. I was going to post on the mortgage free roll of honour but I wont till I see the zero.

Just wanted to say keep going everyone, the end is closer than you think !

Really happy for you all well done

You didn't say what you're final op/payment was so I've guessed at £11,000 - the balance you mentioned last month.

Also a few more ops added for muddywhitechicken, Lomcevak, LavenderBees, ajmoney, icontinuetodream and lulabelle1.

    .

Thanks for that voucherman and yes the payment was £11,000. I now have appt with the nationwide for them to suggest what to do with the money we wont be spending on the mortgage. !

    Hi Voucherman
I hadnt thought about setting a new target but that is a good idea. It would certainly keep us focused. I think we may well make a big overpayment in July but then it would taper off while we have the roof sorted. Maybe a target of £3k? in addition to the £2k.
    :)
