Spray tan before wedding?

I've never had a fake or spray tan but as I'm having a strapless dress I feel I could do with "evening out" as I do have very faint strap marks all year round. The wedding is in February 2013 so I was just wondering if I decided to have one; when people would suggest I do it? It's also been suggested that I have one sooner so I "get used to it" then have another prior to the wedding?
Suggestions/advice please!

I wouldn't get a spray tan I would use a tinted body moisturiser instead less chance of transfer on your dress, less chance of it going wrong.
I've never had a spray tan that has gone right.

My friend had a spray tan at a reputable salon and her strap marks still showed so don't think that they will disappear.
If you are going to have one then definatley have one far enough from the big day just in case you react to it; I come out in a dreadful rash accross my chest whenever I've had one, no matter what make I have.0 -
With a spray tan I'd be concerned about it coming off onto the dress. The slow tanning moisturisers work quite well, you could practice now just putting a bit over the tan lines to see if that does the job.0

I would worry about streakness with moisturises they can stain your hand and i've reacted badly to these. spray tan might come off on the dress so have a trial run if thinking about this. If you're worried about looking white /strap makes talk to your photographer they should be able to touch up the photos to make you look like you've got colour and get rid off the strap marks:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

I agree with everyone else - spray tan can be very hit and miss and most salons go for full-on tan which, if this is your first time tanning, will look really fake (I used to be beauty editor of a daily newspaper so have roadtested them all!).
They're not cheap but St Tropez self-tans are the best and well worth it for your wedding. If you are quite pale then the Everyday Moisturiser is great. If you are darker skinned then the mousse is your best bet.
My top tips:
* Exfoliate all over using a shower gel and old-fashioned face cloth. Be careful not to use anything that is too oily as the tan will not take (hence why body scrubs are generally a bad idea). Also avoid using one of those shower puffs - they exfoliate unevenly, which can cause streaking.
* Moisturise your elbows, knees, feet and hands (don't moisturise the rest of your body as it will stop the tan from taking properly).
* Wear plastic/latex gloves (you can get boxes of them in Boots in the pharmacy section at a fraction of the price of St Tropez gloves)
* Use a self tan mitt (again, you can get these in Boots). The gloves will stop your palms from getting tanned while the mitt is the best at getting an even tan.
* Instructions on what to do next are here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCzBJ4Z4RI0
* Avoid getting dressed for as long as possible to let it dry properly.
And make sure you really give it a couple of goes before the big day.

I am a professional spray tan technician and have to agree with the others, it may well rub off on to any tight fittings, it does come out but NOT if your dress is silk or any types of silk (eg taffeta etc. You can always try it out beforehand and see if you like it. Make sure, that if you do like it and decide you want one for the wedding, that you choose the same spray tan technician. Unfortunatly although it looks easy, many technicians have trouble with hands and feet, so that's something to thin about. Also, in less you are quite dark skinned already, I wouldn't go for any more than an 8%. 10% at the absolute limit.
Congratulations too
Exciting isn't it, I'm getting married in 2015- long way to go

All brands of spray tan have an ingredient in called DHA (dihydroxyacetone) this is the ingredient that reacts with your skin to make you tanned. This will most probably be what you are allergic too. X0 -
I would also try out any makeup particularly foundation too if you are going down the spray tan route as you will need a diffrent shade to properly match with the tan:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

I got a spray tan for my wedding - had one trial about 3 months before hand and it came out lovely, as did the tan on the day.
It was very natural looking - I was very nervous about it but didn't want to risk the streaks from doing it myself - my tan always turns out ok when I do it, but didn't want to risk it for the wedding.
When getting trials, it is important to do it far enough in advance to give you time to try out different ones - as I would advise waiting about 2 weeks between each one as you first is fully worn off before doing another trial.
I said to the salonist that I wanted something natural and that was exactly what I go!Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
If you're going to have astray tan, definitely have a trial within plenty of time incase it goes wrong! Luckily I was able to catch a bit of sun before my wedding although I was still ghostly pale lol! I had also tried a tinted moisturiser before on my legs and it didn't like me at all, never again!Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0
