for my secret santa this yr I've just gone for the safe option of a tin of biscuits(I can see there being a fair few tins of sweets this yr with them being so cheap)mainly as we just get a name usually someone we've never even met/barely know and no other details so figured its a pretty safe choice as most people eat biscuts or its easily regifted just really feel like I should have made more effort so...
as alot of places now seem to do a secret santa at work and theres always lots of thread looking for ideas so just wondered what you'd like/not like to receive if it was for you?

this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk

I do a secret santa with a group of about 40 women that I know (I ducked out the work one since I'm missing the meal), We've known each other for 2 years so its easier to get things but the lady I've got is quiet and would have been difficult except she posted saying what she liked so she has got a pair of fluffy slipper socks.
I like alcohol, candles, make up, slippers/socks, nicknacks and comical gifts and costume jewellery even if I wont wear it.
I am not keen on smellies, biscuits (sorry, but everyone OH has ever met buys us some for Christmas and we have so many), chocolates.
TBH though I'm just always really pleased to get a present for me.0 -
I have our new interim at work to buy for and have only met her about three times so far, although she seems to like lots of the same things as me, so I have bought her a scarf from Primark, a Vaseline lip balm gift set (she carries hers around with her everywhere!) and chocolate orange segsations!!
I would love to receive these as gifts so I hope I get something as nice. Best thing I ever got in the secret Santa was a lovely turquoise MAC eyeshadow.0 -
Don't like...scented candles, alcohol, nuts, total tat that will be binned
Do like...chocolates, picture frames, bed socks, calendar, diary, mug0 -
we have secret santa at work and Im organising it along with a colleague. This is my first year in this job but according to my colleague they make a gift guide (basically a page with everyones name on and beside your name you give ideas of things you like so your secret santa has options of things to buy or more so things not to buy) most important thing is allergies so try and find out from other people if they know of any serious allergies! My OH found out she has a nut allergy only this year and so has to be careful with chocolate for example, of course if she would get something containing nuts she'd still be grateful for the thought and effort just wouldnt be able to enjoy it.
I think playing safe with book, photo frames, a novelty item etc and you cant go wrong.
I personally cant wait to see what someone gets me because I know that time, thought and effort have gone into it.Life is what you make it.0 -

I got a pair of gardening gloves and 3 packs of vegetable seeds a few years back. I'm a keen gardener so was delighted.
I also got a Disney tiara one year with a note saying it was for the team princess. Thought it was hilarious and it stayed on my desk until I moved to a different building. It sat beside a little pot of glitter which was known as my pixie dust. That related to the fact that when unreasonable demands were being made I've been known to say "I'd love to do that for you however I'm clean out of pixie dust right now".
I like books so even a cheap paperback from the supermarket would be good, thriller or spy story though, nothing mushy.
I also like lip balm, essential in a dry office atmosphere. Burts Bees do nice tins.
I appreciate the thought so am happy with most things but please no liqueur chocolates - does anyone like thouse things?!NO FARMS = NO FOOD0 -
We have been told that we have tobuy mugs this year for out ss, so no real scope for fun and they must be suitable for customer viewing!'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

We did this in my last job and it had to be a mug that showed the character of the receiver. Was good fun and made the "shopping" a bit easier! Spending weeks trying to find a mug with a coat as my manager never took hers off as she was always cold! Think you could be pleasantly surprised with the results!
