Another thing. You are not getting much response from other MSers. I would suggest the when you post the SOA, you start a new thread, SOA help.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

in my old property I went into rent arrears after housing benift was put down, i wasn't informed immediatley so had no idea for 3 months. Once i was informed i spoke to the landlord and set up an agreement to pay £5 and more if i could afford it. I also sent this off in writing and he confirmed it in writing. He was very good about the whole thing. maybe this is what has happened to your mum? I was advised to get a confirmation in wrting from him wen i spoke to someone at the cab.
For the council tax also a payment arrangement can be made for the arrears but she needs to keep up with the monthly payments too, if you dad is paying this months for her does it give her some extra cash to throw at the arrears of CT or TV license?
Hope you get something sorted out hun xYou can touch the dust but please don't write in it !
Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?0 -

Ha ha, I hope that won#'t be necessary just yet but thanks anyway.
She is currently wating to hear from a job application. It's 15-20 hours a week btu it will throw some more money her way and that's a start. i sat down with her just now and She has just filled in the form for second adult rebate and i paid the tv license arrears. dad is paying the bailiff crap this month and next month she should be ok to pay it herself. this second job she will take if it is cash in hand and that will almost cover the rent so the rent arrears should be paid off soon too. Thanks for all your help, i will keep you posted as to how we get on!!!!!
thank yooooouuuuu

As a debt adviser this is my two pennerth...
Your mum needs to see a qualified money '/ debt advicer ASAP - Citizens Advice or your local Authoirty may have them.. but do this ASAP... dont dally..
1. Your mum may not be getting everything she is entitled to. A debt adviser will check income maximisation and advise of any beenfits she is not getting. The money adviser will also need to know the basics of your yours and your sisters income, as this can have an impact on the HB/CTB your mum is entitled to. IE - You mum may qualify in her own right to full HB/CTB... if you and your sister are over 18 and working more than 16 hours a week you will be expected to make a NON dependant contribution...
Earning 111-163.99 = non dep deduction of 17 pw
earning 164 - 212.99 = nddd of 23.35 pw
this goes up depending on how much you earn. I have listed the lower 2 NDD's...And these are only for one NDD... so, you can see how your income contributes to your mums HB/CTB claim...
An adviser will tell her how much she needs to get of you and your sister towards the rents and council tax... this money is deducted from mums HB/CTB whether you stay there 3 nights a week or 7... On top of this, you also need to contribute to the other bills...
2. Bailiffs should only list items belonging to the debtor. You say you are 19, dont know how old your sister is... You have only had CT liablity for 12+ months then. If the bailiffs are colelcting on a bill prior to your 18th they CANNOT touch your stuff regardless of who bought it etc etc... They can collect your belongings if they are collecting on a debt accrued after you turned 18, as you are jointly and severally liable for the debt unless on benefits..
A debt adviser could negotiate repaymetn of this debt depending on your mums income (including yours and your sisters contribution)... If your Mum is in a vulnerable group (illness, mental health, elderly, preganant etc) then the debt adviser could negotiate with the council tax unit to recall the account for payments.
Get her down to CAB or have a look on your local authorities website to see if they have a wlfare rights / money adviser... most do these days...Hi - im a member of the Debt Help UK FORUM...0
