JD Williams ipads......beware

Hi all, just to warn anyone who is thinking of ordering an Apple iPad from Jd Williams catalogue, dont! I have no hope of affording one cash, so was delighted to see them appear on the website from my catalogue, so I ordered one last week, well within credit limit, made an initial payment of £47 inc delivery. I today get an email saying they are unable to fulfill my order and the payment I have made will be refunded to my card. I was worried as to why,so I called JD Williams credit control and they advised me, this is a company decision, nothing to do with me or my account conduct, they are not allowing any credit orders for iPads, and some other high value items, yet she admitted the website will allow the order, take your part payment but then will reject at a later date! very misleading, and would I like to pay in full by card? NO! They are more expensive than anywhere else so why would I pay more unless I was ordering on tick! Just to warn those who may have thought it would be a good way of getting an iPad for xmas!

CC limits £26000

Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

I was looking at the ipads on their site. They are very over-priced and then you have to pay monthly interest on credit orders. Then they charge £2.99 p&p AND a further £25 delivery supplement for something as small and light as an ipad. I just can't understand why people order from them when there's other better value catalogues. And they've got the nerve to charge 10p/min to call their customer services. I've got a cheaper geographic telephone number for JDW and their sister catalogues if you want it.

I know you said you could not afford one cash, but on these catalogue sites you pay through the nose for them just from the amount they sell them for and then if you pay on the Never Never you are charged interest so that makes them even more expensive.

If you have to do it in instalments better to go to a high street electrical shop and buy on credit it has to be loads cheaper as the price will be a competitive price and the interest can not be higher than the catalogue (especially if you combine the inflated price and the interest).
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

So you can't afford one. If you can afford today extortionate interest monthly then why can't you save up for one?
  • Hi spinningsheep,
If you haven't bought one yet have a look at VERY, I recently open an account as they had in stock the TV I was looking for at around £100 cheaper than the high street. As this was my first order I also qualified for a 10% off the order and with some product the option to pay 12 month with no fees, the TV after the discount was £1150 I was a new customer and this did not cause any issue at all. My order was delivered within 7 days and the customer service was good so all a good experience at the end :j
In another note I would like to share my personal experience on Apple product, Been a customer since the IPhone 1 and stayed loyal until the IPhone 4 and must say that they have been the best untill recently.....My son have and IPad too
I had to replace my IPhone few weeks ago and went to carfone warehouse to get it, money in the pocket and ready to grab it and go. At the store I had a look around and noticed that they had an offer for a free Samsung 3 mini with a free Samsung Tab2 tablet so I had a chat with the fella and tried both and too my surprise they were good!!! I have now these product for free when I would have fork out £350 for the phone and £500 for the tablet. I have been using both for few weeks and to be honest I became an Android convert :D you can do as much if no more than with Apple, the music you buy is REALLY YOURS unlike with ITune and the Apps are the same than Applestore Apps. my kid now use my tablet instead of his IPad.....
This is only my personal opinion and do not Intend to start a Apple versus the world argument and I apologise if I have offended Any Apple fanatic on the forum :o
Look to me that for a lot of peoples it is not necessary to understand things in order to argue about them ;)
:) Do thanks me if you find my post useful to you :)
