PUtting on a "spread" on a budget

One thing we do sometimes is make pizza, but using a scone base and tomato puree - it is far more tasty than commercial ones and you can tailor the toppings to preference.
Topping suggestions include cut up smoked sausage, pineapple, olives, mixed cheeses, fish of any sort. Anything you fancy really.
Any scone recipie for plain scones should work - I tend to just chuck in the basic ingredients and see how it goes!
If you cover a baking sheet with the mixture about 1/2 inch thick, you can cut into slices or squares when it is cooked.
Add the toppings when the base is cooked and then slice as desired.0 -
LOL at all this. Poor Jennie needs 'Budget Ideas'. Do any of you know how eyewatering the cost of food is in Norway?
BUT you have given some fab ideas for entertaining type food. Just relieved I don't do my grocery shopping in Norway!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

It's a nightmare purpleivy! Fortunately times are changing just a bit. There is now definitely a "Tesco" here which is far cheaper than other supermarkets. It also has a "value" range which is actually quite decent. There is no pattern to the equivalent of yellow stickers but if you see something on special you should grab it by the armful (as I do). It's not quite the Norwegian way but then I am not Norwegian:p
There have been some great ideas here... thank you so much to everyone. I am giving lots a try and the rest I am keeping up my sleeve to try at a later date. :T:dance:Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will. :dance:0
