Hotel booking sites

Hi,

There's a plethora of hotel websites around - I've been using laterooms.com to book hotels while travelling for work, partly because I can earn cashback through rpoints or quidco.

One important advantage of laterooms is that they don't actually charge you for the booking - the hotel itself does this. This means you can get a VAT receipt from the hotel, which is required by my company. Booking through expedia or lastminute, by comparison, means that the payment is processed by the website, who in these two cases is some offshore company who will not issue you with a VAT receipt!

So, I was wondering if anyone had used any other hotel booking sites that work in the same way as laterooms (ie not collecting the payment through this site). Although I'm happy with this site, it would sometimes be useful to have others in order to get a wider choice of hotel within budget!

https://www.hotelscomparison.com is ACE for finding the cheapest hotels, however not sure what the deal is with the VAT recipts...it directs you to the hotel site direct, or brokers (like Expedia), so think it depends on whom you choose to buy through
